House gutted in fire in Jurachhari, damage worth Tk 10 lakh
A house on the west side of the newly built complex building of Jurachhari Upazila Parishad in Rangamati has been gutted in a fire. The fire broke out on Wednesday (April 22) morning. According to local sources, the fire started from a clay stove in Sanjita Chakma’s house this morning. The fire was brought under control within an hour with the combined efforts of everyone present, including the army and police.
No one was injured in the accident. Victim Sanjita Chakma said that she suffered an estimated Tk 10 lakh in damage in the fire. Jurachhari Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md. Bayezid-bin-Akhanda said that the upazila administration immediately provided emergency assistance including dry food to Sanjita Chakma and her family.
