Uncle breaks SSC examinee’s hand

An SSC examinee was beaten with a hammer by his uncle Nazrul Islam (33) in Mathbaria, Pirojpur. The incident took place on Tuesday (April 21) in Mathbaria, Pirojpur. The seriously injured Bithi Akhter (15) was sent to Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital in Barisal at night.
Bithi is the daughter of Md. Badal Hawlader of Shankharikathi village in Tushkhali Union and is a current year’s SSC examinee of Tushkhali Tofel Akon Secondary School. According to local and family sources of the victim, Bithi Akhter had an argument and fight with her uncle Nazrul Islam and Md. Rahat (18) over a trivial family matter. When Bithi went to the accused to inquire about the matter, her uncle Nazrul Islam got angry and attacked her with a hammer. As a result, her right hand was broken.
The injured Bithi was rescued and first taken to Mathbaria Upazila Health Complex. After initial treatment, her condition deteriorated and as the bone injury was serious, the doctor transferred her to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital that night for better treatment. In this regard, Mathbaria Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Sheikh Helal Uddin said, “We have heard the matter verbally. If we receive a written complaint, legal action will be taken against the culprits immediately after investigation.”
