Trump’s ceasefire extension announcement, what Iran said
Mahdi Mohammadi, an adviser to the speaker of Iran’s parliament, said that Trump’s announcement to extend the ceasefire is ‘meaningless’. The losing side cannot impose any conditions.
Mohammadi said on social media, ‘Continuing the blockade is no different from bombing and must be responded to militarily. Moreover, Trump’s extension of the ceasefire is certainly a tactic to buy time for a surprise attack. It is time for Iran to retaliate.’ Earlier, US President Donald Trump announced the extension of the ceasefire with Iran. He said that the US military will not attack until Iranian leaders propose. However, the naval blockade of Iranian ports will continue.
Trump said that this decision was taken at the request of Pakistan. He said, ‘Therefore, I have ordered our military to continue the blockade and be ready in all directions. The ceasefire will be extended by any means until their proposal is submitted and the negotiations are concluded.’ Since there is no specific deadline, this ceasefire is considered to be for an indefinite period.
