Government’s foreign debt as of February is $78,000 million

Finance Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury said that the amount of Bangladesh government’s foreign debt as of February stood at $78,067.20 million. He gave this information during the question and answer session in the National Parliament today, Tuesday (April 21).
Independent MP from Brahmanbaria-2 constituency Rumin Farhana wanted to know about the current amount of foreign debt in Bangladesh, the steps taken to repay the debt and how much debt has been repaid since the current government came to power.
In response to this question, the Finance Minister said that the amount of Bangladesh government’s foreign debt as of February 2026 is $78,067.20 million. He also said that a total of $90.66 million in debt has been repaid since the current government came to power.
