Fuel crisis continues across the country

The common people are suffering immensely as the severe fuel crisis continues across the country. Motorists and bikers have to stand in long queues for hours at petrol pumps. In many places, there are allegations that they are not getting the desired fuel despite waiting from dawn to late at night. The worst crisis has emerged in Rangpur division, where several filling stations have been temporarily closed due to lack of fuel. Meanwhile, diesel shortage has also become apparent.
Filling station owners said that this crisis will not be resolved quickly unless regular supply from the depots is normal. However, customers have been relieved to get fuel through fuel cards in some places. On the other hand, several filling stations, including Faisal Petrol Pump in Chandpur city, have reportedly stopped fuel supply since last night.
Filling station authorities have claimed that they are getting fuel as per the previous rules and there has been no major change in supply. However, according to them, the amount of fuel that was available earlier is still available. But demand has increased due to the increase in the number of vehicles and customers. As a result, fuel supply is possible four days a week and the remaining three days the pumps have to be closed due to lack of fuel.
Meanwhile, the same situation prevails at various filling stations in the capital Dhaka. Long queues of vehicles have been seen in front of the pumps since early morning. Drivers said that they have to wait for 8 hours in some places and 12 to 13 hours in others.
An aggrieved driver said that he has been standing in the queue since 1:30 am and even after waiting for so long, the suffering has not ended. He said that he has to sit here and eat, drink, sleep and do everything. Meanwhile, long traffic jams are being created on the roads due to the excessive pressure of vehicles in front of the pumps. The victims demanded that effective measures be taken to resolve the crisis quickly and information related to fuel supply be published transparently.
