Opposition leader and Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has commented that the government will not get away with taking a stand against the July Uprising. He made these comments at a seminar titled ‘Government against the Referendum Verdict: A Country in Crisis’ at the Institution of Diploma Engineers Bangladesh (IDEB) in Kakrail, Kandahar on Monday (April 13) afternoon.
Dr. Shafiqur Rahman then said, “If there is no July, we are not there, if there is July, we are, if there is July, there is the government, if there is July, there is the opposition, if there is July, there is nothing. The government will not get away with taking a stand against July.”
The Jamaat Ameer further warned that the movement that has been started with the call for unity of 11 parties demanding the implementation of the referendum verdict will not stop until it succeeds. At this time, he called on the people to get ready for the movement.
At the same seminar, Opposition Chief Whip and NCP convener Nahid Islam said, “At this moment, there was a need to discuss the war situation and measles in Parliament. But unfortunately for the nation, now we have to discuss the July Charter, referendum and reforms.”
