Husband kills wife at home, informs neighbors two days later
A husband killed his wife and fled in a rented house in Sreepur, Gazipur. The matter came to light when a neighbor called and informed about the murder two days after the incident. Later, the police went and recovered the body. The deceased, Jharna Akhter (16), is the daughter of Hamidul Islam of Beraiderchala area of Sreepur upazila.
This Sunday (April 12) morning, the police recovered the body and sent it to the morgue for autopsy. The police, relatives of the deceased and locals said that Jharna Akhter got married to Apu, son of Hazrat Ali of Kishoreganj, against the wishes of the family about two years ago.
They lived in a rented house of Masud Rana in Beraiderchala area of Sreepur upazila. Sometime between April 9 and 10, her husband killed Jharna Akhter inside the house and fled. On the night of April 11, Apu called a neighbor woman on her mobile phone and informed about the murder of his wife. Later, when the woman went to the house and confirmed the matter, she informed the police. Police reached the spot and recovered the body after receiving the information. Sreepur Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Akram Hossain said that it is believed that she was killed two to three days ago. After the murder, her husband fled. After receiving the information, they reached the spot, recovered the body and sent it to the Gazipur Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy. A murder case has been filed in this incident and efforts are underway to arrest the accused.
