Demand to recognize Tarique Rahman and Arafat Rahman as child freedom fighters

In recognition of the contribution of former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia and her family in the great war of independence, BNP MP from Gazipur-1 constituency Mujibur Rahman has demanded that she be recognized as a heroic freedom fighter and her two children, current Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and the late Arafat Rahman Koko, be recognized as child freedom fighters.
He made this demand while participating in the discussion on the vote of thanks on the President’s address in the session of the National Assembly today, Wednesday (April 8). Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed presided over the session.
Mujibur Rahman said that despite being imprisoned by the Pakistani occupation forces for nine months in 1971, the immense patience and patriotism shown by this family is rare in history. Our beloved leader, Mother of the Nation Begum Khaleda Zia, was imprisoned by the Pakistanis along with her two children in 1971.
The current Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and his younger brother Arafat Rahman Koko spent those indescribable days of hardship in prison with their mother. This is not a political flattery, but a historical fact.
He said, I have said in various political speeches before the election and I still say it today – Begum Khaleda Zia should be recognized as a full-fledged freedom fighter for her contribution. Besides, it is the demand of the hour to give state honors to Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and his younger brother as child freedom fighters for spending nine months in prison.
Mujibur Rahman said, responding to Tarique Rahman’s groundbreaking speech and call for patriotism, the common people have taken to the streets. They believe that in order to build a country without discrimination, every sacrifice in history needs to be properly evaluated.
