Clashes and vandalism between four villages in Bhanga, 30 injured

A clash broke out between residents of four villages in Bhanga, Faridpur over encroachment. At least 30 people from both sides were injured in the incident. Several shops in the market were attacked and vandalized. The incident took place in the Mansurbad Bazar area of ​​Hamirdi Union of the upazila from 6:30 pm to one hour on Friday (April 3).
The identities of the injured are not known. On one side of the clash were people from Mansurbad village and on the other side were people from Khapura, Majhikanda and Singaria villages of the union. It is learnt that there was a dispute between the residents of those three villages and the residents of Mansurbad village over dominance. As a result, a person from Khapura village was beaten up when he came to Mansurbad village yesterday evening.
When the news spread, the people of Khapura, Majhikanda and Singaria villages joined forces and attacked locals including traders in Mansurbad Bazar with country-made weapons. Then the clash started between the two sides. At least 30 people from both sides were injured in the incident. During the clash, four to five shops in Mansurbad Bazar were attacked and vandalized.
On receiving the information, Bhanga Police Station reached the spot and brought the situation under control. Bhanga Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Mizanur Rahman said that the situation in the area is now calm. However, additional police have been deployed. The injured have been admitted to Bhanga Upazila Health Complex.
