Measles came without a thunderbolt, we were not prepared: Health Minister

Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md. Sakhawat Hossain Bakul said, ‘Measles came without a thunderbolt, we were not prepared.’ He said this after inaugurating a training program on the use of bubble CPAP in the treatment of measles-related pneumonia and respiratory problems at Dhaka Children’s Hospital on Thursday (April 2).
The Health Minister said, ‘Measles came without a thunderbolt, we were not prepared. However, we are fully prepared to deal with measles in a short time.’
Earlier, at a press conference on the measles vaccination program and recent developments at the Health Ministry’s conference room at the Secretariat on Wednesday, the Health Minister said, ‘The government is going to start an emergency vaccination program to prevent measles nationwide. This program will start at the field level from next Sunday.’ The Health Minister said that children aged 6 months to 10 years are being brought under this program.
