29 children who died at Rajshahi Medical College (RMC) did not have measles

This year, 30 children have died at Rajshahi Medical College (RMC) Hospital with measles symptoms, but one of them has been diagnosed with measles. The rest have not been diagnosed. This was claimed by Professor Dr. Sahida Yasmin, head of the pediatric department of RMC Hospital, on Monday (March 30) afternoon.
Dr. Sahida Yasmin said, “Currently, a total of 270 children are admitted to the hospital with measles symptoms. Out of these, 35 have been diagnosed with measles. This year, 30 children have died with measles symptoms. One of them is positive. 29 people have died due to suspected measles. Even after testing (samples) of these 29 people, measles was not found positive.”
The head of the pediatric department said, “Patients have been kept in separate corners of two wards. I will look into the matter if the number of patients increases in the future.” He said, “About 65 percent of the infected children are under six months old. Which is a cause for concern for doctors. The number of infections over a year is very low.”
