Prime Minister inaugurates sports allowance program for national athletes
For the first time, the government has brought national athletes under the government salary in order to develop sports as a profession and means of livelihood. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman inaugurated the sports allowance program at his office in Tejgaon on Monday (March 30) morning.
In the first phase, 129 athletes have been given sports cards. Along with the salary, the government has also given them honorariums. The government has set a target of bringing 500 athletes under this salary structure in phases. The performance of the athletes brought under the salary will be evaluated every four months. If they can maintain their performance, they will be able to continue this benefit and if there is a deficiency in performance, they will be removed from the list.
Although the salary has been determined equally for everyone, its amount has not yet been announced. This announcement has been reserved for the Prime Minister.
