Rohingya teenager loses leg in landmine explosion at Ukhia border
A Rohingya teenager lost his leg in a landmine explosion at the zero line of the Naf River on the Ukhia border in Cox’s Bazar. The incident took place on Sunday (March 29) afternoon at the Balukhali border of Palangkhali Union.
Lieutenant Colonel Md. Zahirul Islam, commander of the 64th Battalion of the BGB in Ukhia, said that the explosion occurred while the teenager Abdul Hakim was fishing from the Naf River and he suffered serious injuries in various parts of his body. Locals rescued him and first took him to the MSF Hospital in Ukhia. Later, he was sent to the Cox’s Bazar District Sadar Hospital for advanced treatment.
It is worth noting that another Rohingya named Mohammad Shahidul Islam lost his leg in a landmine explosion at the Anjumanpara border of the same union last Thursday.
