18 kg of gold recovered from cargo compartment of Biman at Shahjalal Airport

Aviation Security (AVSEC) and intelligence agencies have recovered 153 gold bars from inside the toilet panel of the cargo compartment of a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. The total weight of the recovered gold is about 18 kg.
Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight BG-348 from Dubai landed at Shahjalal Airport on Saturday night (March 28). Based on previously received secret information, the intelligence agencies and AVSEC members conducted a joint operation.
At one stage of the search, when the toilet panel of the cargo hold of the aircraft was opened, the gold bars cleverly hidden in a white cloth were recovered. The current market value of which is about Tk 380 million. The recovered gold has been handed over to the airport customs.
It is worth noting that the airport authorities have said that such operations will continue to strengthen airport security and prevent smuggling.
