Policeman dies while bathing in Jhenaidah

A policeman has died after falling into water in Maheshpur upazila of Jhenaidah. The incident has cast a shadow of grief over the area. The incident took place on Tuesday (March 24) afternoon in Nasti Baore of the upazila. The deceased Ashiq Hossain (28) is a constable and a resident of Dakahara village of Raninagar upazila of Naogaon. He was working at Jhenaidah police lines.
According to police and local sources, Ashiq Hossain had come to Maheshpur police station in the afternoon to get a car serviced. After work, he went to Nasti Baore of the upazila to take a bath as his body was covered in dust, oil and soot. He suddenly fell ill while getting out of the water after bathing. Later, local people rescued him and took him to Maheshpur Upazila Health Complex, where the doctor on duty declared him dead.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Maheshpur police station Mehedi Hasan said that the real cause of the incident has not yet been confirmed. The exact cause of death will be known after receiving the autopsy report.
