Body of youth recovered from pond a day after going missing
Police have recovered the body of a youth from a pond in Madaripur a day after he went missing. The body of Rajin Yasar Sami (22) was recovered from the pond of the District Food Office at around 9 am today, Tuesday (March 24). The deceased Rajin Yasar Sami is the son of Enayet Hossain of Pathakkandi area of the city.
Police and relatives said that Sami left home yesterday Monday afternoon. After that, family members did not find any trace of him. Relatives filed a missing person report at Sadar Model Police Station to find Sami.
This morning, locals saw Sami’s body floating in the pond of the District Food Office and informed the police. On receiving the information, police and fire service members recovered the body from the pond and sent it to the morgue of the 250-bed Madaripur District Hospital for autopsy.
Madaripur Sadar Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abul Kalam Azad told us that the deceased Sami was mentally challenged. It is believed that he fell into the water while standing on the bank of the pond and could not get up. More details about the cause of death will be known once the autopsy report of the deceased is received.
