Eid holiday ends, banks, insurance, offices, courts reopen today
After a seven-day public holiday on the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr, activities and customer service in banks, insurance, offices and courts will resume from Tuesday (March 24). Offices and courts will remain open from 9 am to 5 pm today.
In the meantime, numerous working people are returning to the capital from villages after Eid. Due to the long holiday, most government officials and employees have started reaching Dhaka by today. Due to this, an overflowing crowd of working people was seen at train, bus and launch terminals.
On March 21 (Saturday), Eid-ul-Fitr, one of the biggest festivals of the Muslim Ummah, was celebrated with due religious fervor across the country. On this occasion, a total of seven-day general holiday was declared from March 17 to 23. However, employees will get a day off again just one day after the offices reopen after Eid. Next Thursday (March 26) is the Independence Day holiday.
The next two days, Friday and Saturday, are weekly holidays respectively. As a result, employees are going to get three more days off after the offices reopen. Meanwhile, the five-day holiday for journalists, officials and newspaper employees on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr ended on Monday. The Bangladesh Newspaper Owners Association (NOAB) had declared a holiday from March 19 to 23 on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.
