US costs of Iran war so far exceed $12 billion
White House National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett told CBS’s ‘Face the Nation’ on Sunday (March 15) that the total cost of the US war with Iran since February 28 is $12 billion. However, he clarified that this is not the total cost of the entire operation.
Hassett said that the administration does not believe that the operation will require additional funding from Congress. Because it is possible to continue the military operation with the current stockpile of weapons.
Earlier, the US daily New York Times quoted a Pentagon briefing as saying that the first six days of the war had cost more than $11.3 billion. Regarding the duration of the operation, Hassett said that according to the US Department of Defense estimates, it could take four to six weeks to complete the entire operation. The operation is currently slightly ahead of schedule.
