6 US soldiers killed in Iraq plane crash identified
The US military has identified six soldiers killed in a plane crash in Iraq. The Pentagon said six crew members were killed when a military refueling plane crashed in western Iraq earlier this week. Authorities said the crash was not caused by “hostile fire.”
The six US soldiers killed were John Kleiner (33) of Auburn, Alabama; Ariana Savino (31) of Covington, Washington; Ashley Pruitt (34) of Bardstown, Kentucky; Seth Koval (38) of Mooresville, Indiana; Curtis Angst (30) of Wilmington, Ohio; and Tyler Simmons (28) of Columbus, Ohio.
The first three were members of the US Air Force. The other three were members of the US Air National Guard. Pentagon officials said the cause of the crash was still under investigation. However, US Central Command had previously said that the aircraft was not damaged by enemy fire or accidental hits by their own forces.
