Sramik League leader shot dead in Bagerhat

Upazila Sramik League General Secretary Sheikh Sohag (42) was shot dead by miscreants in Mollahat, Bagerhat. The incident occurred on Saturday (March 14) night while he was returning home from a business establishment. The deceased Sheikh Sohag is the son of Daud Sheikh of Udaypur Uttarkandi village of Sadar Union of Mollahat Upazila and was the General Secretary of Mollahat Upazila Sramik League.
Locals said that Sohag closed his business establishment at night and left for home on a motorcycle. At that time, some miscreants coming on two motorcycles fired four consecutive bullets at him. He fell to the ground on the spot after being shot. Later, locals quickly rescued him and took him to Mollahat Upazila Health Complex, where the doctor on duty declared him dead.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Mollahat Police Station Kazi Ramjanul Haque said that after receiving the information, the police visited the scene. A drive has been launched to identify and arrest the unknown terrorists involved in the incident. It is initially believed that the murder occurred as a result of a business dispute.
