Fire breaks out in madrasa during Tarawih, hundreds of worshippers saved

A terrible fire broke out in Laksam Salehia Alia Dwinia Madrasa and Orphanage. Tarawih prayers were being held at the madrasa in Ward No. 1 of the municipality at around 9 pm on Monday (March 9).
Madrasa head Mohtamim Mohammad Ullah confirmed the fire. It is learned that at the time of the incident, the fire service and madrasa authorities, teachers and students were offering Tarawih prayers in a mosque next to the madrasa. Suddenly, a student screamed after seeing the fire in the madrasa. Later, everyone came out and informed the Laksam Fire Service and Civil Defense. Upon receiving the information, two units of Laksam Fire Service and Civil Defense reached the spot and brought the fire under control after a long effort. By then, everything inside the madrasa, including cash and furniture, had been burnt to ashes in the fire.
Several students of the madrasa said that the new clothes they had bought for Eid had been burnt to ashes in the fire.
Madrasa head Mohtamim Mohammad Ullah said that cash and furniture were burnt to ashes in the fire. The madrasa suffered a loss of at least Tk 10 lakh. It is especially unfortunate for the students that the new clothes bought for Eid were burnt to ashes in the fire. Laksam Fire Service and Civil Defense Senior Station Officer Md. Kabirul Islam confirmed the fire and said that the fire broke out due to an electrical short circuit.
