Student raped in Madaripur, 1 arrested

A madrasa student has been accused of raping her in Rajoir over a love proposal. On Monday (March 9), the police arrested the main accused in the incident, Tamim Matubbar, and sent her to jail.
According to the case and family sources, the 15-year-old student is a student of the Najera division of a female madrasa in Rajoir upazila. A scoundrel named Tamim Matubbar from Chhagalchira village in Muksudpur, neighboring Gopalganj, proposed to her several times. Angered by her refusal to accept the proposal, Tamim and his associates forcibly picked up the student on an easy bike on her way to the madrasa around 8:30 am last Saturday. At this time, they brutally tortured the student in an abandoned building inside a cattle farm and threw her on the road in front of the madrasa and fled. Later, her family members rescued her and admitted her to the 250-bed district hospital.
In this incident, the victim’s father filed a rape case against 3 people at Rajoir Police Station on Sunday night (March 8). The victim’s family has demanded maximum punishment for the rapist and his accomplices. The student is currently undergoing treatment at the 250-bed Madaripur Hospital, his medical examination has been completed. Although his physical condition has improved, fear and panic are not going away. Locals and relatives are demanding that the accused be tried as soon as possible so that no one else falls victim to such a heinous incident in the future. Rajoir Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Aminul Islam said that the police have been able to arrest Tamim Matubbar, the main accused in the case. Police said that a drive is underway to arrest the remaining accused.
