There was no other option but to take revenge: Iranian President
Iranian President Masoud Pajhwokian said that Iran tried to avoid conflict through diplomacy, but after the attacks by the US and Israel, there was no other option but to take revenge. Meanwhile, the White House says that the US made several offers to Iran before the attack. But after Tehran rejected them, the country was raided. On the other hand, Germany has made it clear that they will not participate in the ongoing conflict against Iran.
The US and Israel launched joint air strikes on Iran last Saturday (February 28) amid indirect talks on the nuclear issue. Tehran decided to take revenge against US bases in the Middle East in response. Yesterday, Wednesday (March 4), Iranian President Masoud Pajhwokian said that Tehran wants to avoid conflict through diplomacy. But after the attacks by Washington and Tel Aviv, there was no other option open to them.
The world is in a state of uproar over Operation Epic Fury, ordered by US President Donald Trump. The issue of Iran’s attack and the Middle East also came up in the White House press briefing yesterday. Press Secretary Carolyn Levitt claimed that the preemptive strike was carried out based on Trump’s “feeling” that Iran could attack.
Levitt also claimed that before attacking Iran, the Trump administration made several offers to Tehran. These included the lifting of all stringent sanctions on Iran, the supply of nuclear fuel for peaceful use, and the launch of a joint civilian nuclear program with US investment. However, in return, Iran was given the condition of permanently destroying its uranium enrichment infrastructure. Levitt claimed that the US attacked the country because Iran rejected this “peace offer”.
Levitt also said that the timing of the attack was determined based on information provided by Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu. He also said that US intelligence agencies are closely monitoring the vacuum in Iran’s leadership and its successor after the death of the Supreme Leader.
