3 accused arrested in unidentified murder case in Mymensingh
The district police have unraveled the mystery of an unidentified murder case that took place in the Kotwali Model Police Station area of Mymensingh. Three main accused have been arrested within 48 hours of filing the case. The police have also recovered the evidence used in the murder.
According to police sources, unknown miscreants killed Md. Suman Mia (35), a resident of Ashtadhar Bhitapara village under Kotwali Model Police Station, anytime between 9:30 pm on February 26 after Iftar and 10 am the next day. Later, his body was recovered abandoned on the banks of an irrigation canal in a paddy field on the south side of the railway line at the northeast corner of Saheb Bari in Ashtadhar Senpara area.
In this incident, the deceased’s maternal uncle Md. Mahin Hossain (45) has filed a murder case against unknown accused at the Kotwali Model Police Station. The police conducted a raid and arrested the three main accused involved in the incident, Md. Sajib Ali (20), Nazmul Islam (25), Shihab Mia alias Shipon (16).
Police said that the accused and the victim are involved in drug trade and consumption. About 10 to 15 days ago, Sajib Ali had a fight with Sumon Mia over a dispute over drug money. In continuation of this, the victim was killed on the spot by calling him on a mobile phone on the day of the incident.
Police also said that the arrested Md. Sajib Ali and Nazmul Islam have given confessional statements under Section 164 in the court. Mymensingh District Superintendent of Police Md. Mizanur Rahman said that the police have shown professionalism and efficiency in unraveling this mystery and arresting the accused as soon as possible.
