Reaching a diplomatic solution with Iran is now ‘much easier’: Trump

US President Donald Trump said that reaching a diplomatic solution with Iran is now ‘much easier’ than it used to be after the military attack on the country. The US president made the comments after a joint Israeli-American attack killed several officials in the country, including Iran’s supreme religious leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Al Jazeera reports.
The US has carried out two strikes in less than a year amid ongoing talks over Iran’s nuclear program. According to many analysts, the move has called into question Washington’s diplomatic credibility. However, in an interview with CBS News, Trump presented a different position.
He said, ‘It’s obviously a lot easier now than it was a day ago. Because they are under a lot of pressure.’ Trump also claimed that ‘the level of Iranian retaliation on the US base was less than expected.’ In his words, ‘We thought it would be twice as much.’ The US president’s statement has sparked renewed tension and discussion in the international arena.
It is worth noting that Iran has suffered heavy losses in the US and Israeli attacks that began on Saturday (February 28). Iranian media confirmed that the country’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed in the attack. On Sunday (March 1), the country’s semi-official news agency Tasnim and Fars News Agency confirmed the death. Earlier, the US president claimed that Khamenei had died after the US and Israeli attacks.
