Six businesses gutted in fire in Hajiganj

Six businesses were gutted in a fire at a market on Station Road in Hajiganj Bazar, Chandpur. The fire broke out on Friday (February 27) night. Two units of the Hajiganj Fire Service reached the spot and brought the fire under control.
Nurunnabi, the owner of the affected Ali Ashraf Market, claimed that six of the 12 shops in their market were damaged. This caused a loss of about half a crore taka. The damaged shops include furniture, tiles and sanitary, hardware and pipe shops.
Md. Alamgir Kabir Patwari, former Motawalli Principal of Hajiganj Baro Mosque, told us that the first call was made to the Rural Electricity and Fire Service after receiving the news of the fire. They were saved from the terrible fire by quickly cutting off the electricity connection and the fire service reaching the spot quickly.
“The entire market was saved due to the quick control of the fire. Three shops were severely damaged. The rest were partially damaged. Two units and locals tried to control the fire for an hour and a half,” said Shahidul Islam, station officer of Hajiganj Fire Service.
