Noora, the mastermind behind the rape and murder of a teenage girl in Narsingdi, has been arrested by the police
Noor Mohammad alias Noora (28), the main accused in the murder of a teenage girl in Narsingdi after she was kidnapped from her father for demanding justice for the rape. Madhabdi Police Station OC Kamal Hossain confirmed to the media that he was arrested from the Maona area of Gazipur at around 9 pm on Friday (February 27).
The body of the 15-year-old girl was recovered from a mustard field between Bilpar and Darikandi in Mahishasur Union of Madhabdi Police Station in Sadar Upazila at 12:30 pm last Thursday. It is alleged that the girl was kidnapped from her father and killed after she demanded justice for the rape. The girl’s mother filed a case with Madhabdi Police Station last Thursday night, accusing 9 people and 2-3 unknown persons in the incident.
The 9 people named in the case report are Noor Mohammad alias Noora (28), Ebadullah (40), Hazrat Ali (40), Md. Gaffar (37), Ahmed Ali Dewan (65), Imran Dewan (32), Ishaq alias Isha (40), Abu Taher (50) and Md. Ayub (30). Ahmed Ali Dewan is a former member of Mahishasura UP and vice-president of Union BNP. Police arrested five people including him on Thursday night. The remaining four are Imran Dewan, Ebadullah, Ayub and Gaffar. Meanwhile, Ahmed Ali Dewan has been expelled from all posts, including the primary member of the party, after the complaint was filed. This information was given in a notice by Sadar Upazila BNP last night. The notice signed by Sadar Upazila BNP President Abu Saleh Chowdhury and General Secretary Md. Iqbal Hossain stated that Ahmed Ali has been expelled from the party due to clear evidence of violation of party discipline.
Citing the case report, the police said that the girl had spoken to a young man named Nura, who is known locally as a scoundrel. Fifteen days ago, five to six young men led by Nura took the girl away. The family alleged that she was raped at that time. The girl’s family went to Ahmed Ali Dewan, a former member of Ward No. 9 of Mahishasura Union Parishad and vice-president of the Union BNP, for justice in the incident. However, the family did not get justice. When the former UP member complained to the youths concerned, including Nura, they got angry. In such a situation, last Wednesday night, the father was going to leave his daughter at her aunt’s house. On the way, when they reached Bilpar area, six young men led by Nura kidnapped the girl from her father. Despite searching in different places all night, the girl could not be found. Later, at around 9:30 am yesterday, during a search, the local people found the girl’s body lying in a mustard field between Bilpar and Darikandi areas. On receiving the information, the Madhabadi police station reached the spot and recovered the body.
The girl’s family members alleged that Ahmed Ali Dewan, who was in charge of the rape trial, had conspired with the criminals to embezzle a huge amount of money and covered up the incident without conducting any trial. He also pressured the girl’s family to leave the village. The lack of justice made the criminals more reckless. As a result, the girl was kidnapped in front of her father on Wednesday night, taken to a mustard field and killed.
