Prime Minister presents Ekushey Padak
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has presented the country’s second highest civilian award ‘Ekushey Padak-2026’ to those who have made glorious contributions in various important fields of national life. He presented this state recognition at a ceremony at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital on Thursday (February 26).
The Prime Minister presented ‘Ekushey Padak-2026’ to 9 eminent individuals and one institution of the country. They are, Farida Akhter Babita in the acting category. Professor Dr. Md. Abdus Sattar was selected in fine arts. Marina Tabassum in architecture. Ayub Bachchu received the posthumous award in music. Arthi Ahmed in dance and Islam Uddin Palakar in Palagan were given this distinguished honor. In addition, Shafiq Rehman in journalism, Professor Dr. Mahbubul Alam Majumder in education and Tejas Halder Jose in sculpture. At the same time, the popular band Warphase was awarded the Ekushey Padak for its contribution to the music industry.
Incidentally, the Ekushey Padak is a national and second highest civilian award in Bangladesh. Since 1976, the Ekushey Padak has been awarded to prominent Bangladeshi language warriors, linguists, writers, artists, educationists, researchers, journalists, economists, social figures and institutions in recognition of their outstanding contributions at the national level, who have contributed to poverty alleviation.
