New Governor Takes Charge
Mr. Mostakur Rahman has taken charge as the 14th new Governor of Bangladesh Bank. He was welcomed by high-ranking officials after arriving at Bangladesh Bank this Thursday (February 26) morning. Earlier, yesterday (February 25) the Financial Institutions Division of the Ministry of Finance issued a notification appointing him as the new Governor of Bangladesh Bank.
It said that Md. Mostakur Rahman FCMA has been appointed as the Governor of Bangladesh Bank for a period of 4 (four) years from the date of joining, on the condition that he will sever his employment relationship with all other institutions and organizations.
It was further stated that during his tenure as Governor, he will receive salary, allowances and other benefits from Bangladesh Bank as per the terms of the agreement signed with the government. Other matters of appointment will be determined through the agreement.
The new Governor Mostakur Rahman is a leading expert in corporate finance, export, economics, institutional governance and financial management. He obtained his master’s degree in accounting from Dhaka University in 1987. This fellow of ICMAB was also a member of the board of directors of Chittagong Stock Exchange.
Meanwhile, after the appointment of a new governor, the posts of director and additional director have been transferred. The post of additional director of the governor’s secretariat has been changed.
