Content creation banned at metro stations

Content creation has been banned at metro stations. The Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) authorities informed this in a warning notice on Wednesday (February 25).
The notice, signed by DMTCL Director (Administration) A. K. M. Khairul Alam, states that any kind of video recording or broadcasting inside metro stations, platforms, concourse halls, entry and exit routes and trains without prior permission is now completely prohibited.
This rule will be effective especially in creating short videos for YouTube or social media, live streaming or taking photos and shooting for commercial or personal purposes. The notice strictly warns that if anyone carries out this activity without the permission of the authorities, necessary administrative and legal action will be taken as per the existing laws and policies.
The DMTCL authorities have further clarified that if any kind of shooting or photography is done for commercial purposes in the metro rail area, then the ‘Commercial Premises Rental/Lease Policy 2023’ will have to be followed. In this case, it is mandatory to apply in advance to the authorities and get permission through the prescribed process. It is believed that this decision has been taken mainly to ensure the comfort and safety of the passengers.
