President, Prime Minister pay tribute to martyrs on National Martyrs’ Day
President Mohammad Shahabuddin and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman paid tribute to the martyrs of the barbaric killings at the BDR headquarters in Pilkhana. At around 10 am, wreaths were laid at the memorial of the brave martyrs at the Banani Military Cemetery as per state norms. The President first paid tribute.
Then, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman laid wreaths to pay tribute to the martyrs. After laying the wreath, the President and the Prime Minister stood in silence for some time. At this time, a smart contingent of the armed forces paid tribute in military style. The tune of mourning was played. Then they participated in a special prayer organized to seek forgiveness for the souls of the martyrs.
The chiefs of the three services, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed, high-ranking military and civilian officials, and members of the martyrs’ families were present at the ceremony.
