Land Minister rides an old rickshaw without any protocol
Land Minister Mizanur Rahman Minu rides a rickshaw in Rajshahi without any protocol. No police protocol or special security convoy was seen with him during his journey. Such an exchange of tactics has fascinated the city dwellers. Yesterday, Sunday (February 22) morning, he rode a rickshaw from his house in the city’s Padma residential area. At that time, his personal assistant Abdur Rob Panna was with him. The rickshaw was being driven by his long-time rickshaw puller Abdul Quddus. Such a picture was seen at the scene.
He rode a rickshaw to his personal office in ‘Monulight Garden’ in the city’s Saheb Bazar area. At that time, he waved and welcomed people on both sides of the road. After investigation, it was learned that the only means of transportation for Mizanur Rahman Minu in Rajshahi is rickshaw. Starting from doing the market, he relies on rickshaws for all his daily tasks. Despite being nominated by the BNP for the Rajshahi Sadar constituency in the 13th National Parliament election, he continued his election campaign by riding a rickshaw.
The former mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation won the recently concluded election by a margin of about 28,000 votes. After taking oath as the Land Minister, he arrived in Rajshahi on his first official visit last Thursday. Since returning to his hometown, he has been moving around in a rickshaw, mingling with the common people without any protocol.
Abdur Rob Panna, who worked as Mizanur Rahman Minu’s personal assistant for 11 years, said, “Mizanur Rahman used to travel by rickshaw for all his daily work starting from the market. Even after becoming the land minister, he is still traveling by rickshaw without any protocol. Last Saturday, he went to the raw market in Sagarpara area of the city and met the vegetable traders and chicken traders there and exchanged strategies. He used to do business from here. He has a sincere relationship with everyone.
He said, in this way, he can work for the country and the common people by mixing with the people and maintaining relations with everyone – this is our hope. Rickshaw puller Abdul Quddus said, ‘I have been driving his rickshaw for 10 years. Sir, the way he used to travel in my rickshaw before, even after becoming the land minister, he is traveling in a rickshaw without any protocol. We are also happy to see this.”
Rajshahi Metropolitan Nationalist Workers’ Party President Rafiqul Islam Pakhi said, Rajshahi has got a new generation. A full-fledged minister after 46 years from Rajshahi Sadar constituency and 21 years from Rajshahi district. The people of Rajshahi are happy and excited about this. We want Mizanur Rahman Minu Bhai to be known as ‘Minu Bhai’ to the people of Rajshahi and the country and to work for the welfare of Rajshahi and the country.
