Young man’s two arms and legs severed in terrorist attack in Bagerhat

A young man’s two arms and legs have been severed from his body due to a previous enmity. The incident took place inside Kabir Khan’s banana and betel nut orchard in Sammankathi village of Maghira union in Kachua upazila of Bagerhat district on Sunday morning (February 22). He has been sent to Dhaka in a seriously injured condition.
The injured youth has been identified as Md. Rahmat Sheikh (28). He is the son of Matiar Rahman Sheikh, a resident of Sammankathi village of Maghira union in the upazila. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kachua police station Md. Shafiqul Islam confirmed this information. Police and locals said that in the morning, Rahmat Sheikh went to the houses of Md. Israfil and Yasin, residents of the same village, and started an argument. After leaving there, the police rescued the injured Rahmat in Kabir Khan’s banana and betel nut orchard.
It is learnt that due to a previous enmity, Israfil and Yasin and seven other youths entered a banana garden in the village at around 9:30 am and hacked Rahmat Sheikh indiscriminately, seriously injuring him. Two hands and one leg were severed from Rahmat’s body due to the sharp weapon. Later, on receiving information, the police rescued him from the spot and took him to the Upazila Health Complex and later sent him to Dhaka when his condition deteriorated. Kachua Police Station OC Md. Shafiqul Islam told us that both the victim and the attacker are of bad nature. There was a dispute between them since the past. Today, the miscreants found him alone and carried out this attack. However, raids are being conducted at various places to arrest them.
