Explosion at fireworks shop in China kills 12
A massive explosion at a fireworks shop in China’s Hubei province has killed 12 people. Several others were injured.
The accident occurred at 2:30 pm local time on Wednesday (February 18) at a market in the city of Xiangyang. The fire also burned down several nearby shops. The fire was brought under control within an hour. The cause of the explosion is not yet known. However, an investigation is underway.
A day earlier, a fire at a fireworks shop in Jiangsu province, China, killed 8 people. It is noteworthy that fireworks sales are currently at a peak in the country around the Chinese Lunar New Year festival.
