Government determined to break the syndicate of irregularities: Prime Minister
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman said in his address to the nation after assuming office that the rule of law, not party or political influence, will be the final word in running the state. The Prime Minister said this in a speech broadcast on Bangladesh Television and Bangladesh Betar at 9:45 pm on Wednesday (February 18).
He said that the BNP government is determined to break all syndicates of law and order and irregularities in all areas. Warning businessmen, the Prime Minister urged them not to consider the month of Ramadan as a month for making profit. Forgetting the boundaries of those who voted for BNP or not, Tarique Rahman said that everyone has equal rights towards this government.
The Prime Minister said that the country’s economy has become fragile due to long-term corruption, misrule and irregularities. At the same time, the law and order situation has also weakened. The new government has taken responsibility in this reality. He said that improving the law and order situation and strictly controlling corruption are the main priorities of the government.
Tarique Rahman said that the spread of gambling and drugs across the country has become one of the main reasons for social unrest and increase in crime. The law enforcement agencies have already been instructed to take strict steps to control this crime. He further said that the government is giving utmost importance to protecting the lives and property of the people and building a safe society. He further said that every constitutional and government-private institution of the state will be run in accordance with statutory policies and rules. No kind of party influence, political pressure or abuse of personal power will be tolerated. The Prime Minister said that the rule of law, not party influence or coercion, will be the final word in running the state. Seeking everyone’s cooperation in implementing this position of the government, the Prime Minister said that the trust of the people will be restored by establishing a just and accountable governance system.
