25 ministers take oath
The cabinet members of the new government led by BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman have taken oath. Today, Tuesday (February 17) after 4 pm, President Md. Shahabuddin administered the oath to them. The oath-taking ceremony was held at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban. Newly elected members of parliament, representatives of the interim government and invited guests were present at the time.
Leaders from various South Asian countries including India, Pakistan and Nepal were also present. This government was formed through elections 18 months after the interim government took power after the fall of the Sheikh Hasina-led Awami League government.
The 25 who took the oath are – Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Salahuddin Ahmed, Iqbal Hasan Mahmud, Hafiz Uddin Ahmed Bir Bikram, Abu Zafar Md. Zahid Hossain, Abdul Awal Mintu, Kazi Shah Mofazzal Hossain Kaikobad, Mizanur Rahman Minu, Nitai Roy Chowdhury, Khandaker Abdul Muktadir, Ariful Haque Chowdhury, Zahir Uddin Swapan, Afroza Khanam Rita, Md. Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie, Asadul Habib Dulu, Md. Asaduzzaman, Zakaria Taher, Dipen Dewan, ANM Ehsanul Haque Milan, Sardar Md. Sakhawat Hossain, Fakir Mahbub Anam, Sheikh Rabiul Alam, Mohammad Amin Ur Rashid and Khalilur Rahman.
