BNP will not take oath as members of the Constitutional Reform Council
The elected representatives of the BNP will not take oath as members of the Constitutional Reform Council. Salahuddin Ahmed, the elected member of parliament of the BNP from Cox’s Bazar-1 constituency, said this on behalf of the party. He said this before the oath-taking ceremony at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban today, Tuesday (February 17).
Holding two forms, he said, “None of us have been elected as members of the Constitutional Reform Council and it has not yet been included in the constitution. If the Constitutional Reform Council is formed as per the referendum verdict, then it must first be included in the constitution. And a provision must be made for who will take oath as a member of the Constitutional Reform Council.
Such a form will be included in the Third Schedule of the constitution. After it is constitutionally adopted in the parliament, a provision can be made for the oath-taking of the members of the Constitutional Reform Council. We have followed the constitution so far. I hope we will continue to do so in the coming days as well.” He further said, “On the instructions of the Honorable Chairman, I have conveyed our party decision in his presence.” Later, Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin administered the oath to everyone.
