Shahbaz Sharif calls Tarique Rahman, invites him to visit Pakistan

Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has called Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairman Tarique Rahman to congratulate him on his landslide victory in the 13th national elections. He has invited Tarique Rahman to visit Islamabad. The Pakistani prime minister made the announcement in a post on social media X on Friday (February 13) local time.
According to a Geo News report, the two leaders remembered the late BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia in a warm and heartfelt phone call. They paid tribute to her extraordinary contribution to Pakistan-Bangladesh relations and her important role in bringing the people of the two countries closer. In the phone call, Shahbaz Sharif congratulated the people of Bangladesh for the successful conclusion of the national elections. He said, “This election has reflected the cherished democratic spirit and values ​​of the nation.”
Recalling the historic and brotherly relations between Pakistan and Bangladesh, the Prime Minister of Pakistan expressed his firm resolve to further strengthen bilateral cooperation in all areas of mutual interest and work together for regional peace and progress with full respect for the sovereign equality of both countries. The Prime Minister of Pakistan invited the BNP Chairman to visit Pakistan at his convenience. Responding to the invitation, Tarique Rahman also invited Shahbaz Sharif to visit Dhaka. Both leaders agreed to maintain close communication to work for the welfare of the people of the two countries in the coming days.
