Journalists and observers will be able to carry mobile phones inside polling stations – EC Sanaullah
Election Commissioner Brigadier General (Retd.) Abul Fazal Md. Sanaullah has said that journalists and election observers will be able to carry mobile phones inside polling stations in the upcoming February 12 referendum and national elections. He said this in response to a question from journalists at the Election Building in Agargaon in the capital today (February 9).
Md. Sanaullah said that journalists and observers will not face any problem if they enter the polling station with mobile phones. Earlier, a letter signed by Md. Shahidul Islam, Senior Assistant Secretary of the Election Commission Secretariat, on Sunday stated that carrying and using mobile phones within a 400-yard radius of the polling station has been banned. The directive states that only the presiding officer, concerned police officer and two specific Ansar members (for using the app) will be able to use mobile phones.
