Sarjis Alam fined for violating election code of conduct
A mobile court has fined Sarjis Alam, the candidate of the 11-party alliance for Panchagarh-1 constituency and the chief coordinator of the NCP’s northern region, Tk 5,000 for violating the election code of conduct. Yesterday, Wednesday (February 4), after 8 pm, Sarjis Alam was speaking at a road meeting in Tentulia upazila of Panchagarh, violating the election code of conduct. At that time, a mobile court led by the executive magistrate arrived there and charged Sarjis Alam with violating the code of conduct.
At the time of the incident, Sarjis was accompanied by Panchagarh district Jamaat Ameer Maulana Iqbal Hossain, police and administration officials and BGB members. At that time, Upazila Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate (Land) SM Akash fined Sarjis Alam Tk 5,000 for violating Section 2 of Election Code of Conduct 17 and his election representative Habibur Rahman Habib immediately paid a fine of Tk 5,000. At the same time, he was warned to use the microphone at the scheduled time in the election meeting in the future.
In this regard, Executive Magistrate SM Akash of the mobile court said, in the interest of free and fair elections, we are following the election code of conduct in different areas. If anyone violates, fines are being imposed as per the rules. In this regard, election representative of the mobile court Habibur Rahman Habib said, NCP candidate Sarjis Alam exceeded the scheduled time while giving a speech at the election road meeting. At that time, the mobile court led by the Executive Magistrate came to the meeting venue and fined him Tk 5,000 for violating the code of conduct. Respecting the law, we paid the fine immediately. At the same time, the meeting will be conducted according to the election code of conduct in the future.
