Awami League leader accused in Subarnachar rape case in paddy sheaf campaign
The mastermind of the sensational mother-daughter gang rape case in Subarnachar, Noakhali, and whose activities are banned, has been seen in BNP’s election campaign. On Saturday (January 31) afternoon, a picture of his presence at the BNP election office in Al-Amin Bazar of Charwapda Union of the upazila went viral on social media and created a stir in the area.
According to eyewitness sources, yesterday (January 31) afternoon, Charwapda Union Awami League President Abul Khair Munshi was discussing the campaign with local leaders and workers at the Al-Amin Bazar election office. At that time, a BNP worker who did not want to be named secretly took his picture and posted it on Facebook, which immediately went viral.
The sudden friendship of this controversial Awami League leader with BNP has created strong dissatisfaction among BNP grassroots leaders and workers. Many leaders and activists are claiming on social media that senior leaders may be giving place to such a despicable person in the party in exchange for immoral benefits, which will alienate the party and make it controversial.
Former Charwapda Union BNP President Oli Uddin Selim expressed surprise and said, “I don’t know who brought Abul Khair Munshi to the BNP election campaign. However, if a known criminal and Awami League leader like him campaigns for BNP, then the general voters will turn their backs on us.”
Accused Union Awami League President Abul Khair Munshi’s mobile phone was called several times, but he could not be contacted. Even other senior leaders present at the election office did not respond. It is worth noting that Abul Khair Munshi, the main accused in the controversial mother-daughter gang rape case in Subarnachar, was imprisoned for a long time. There are also several complaints against him in the area.
