Message from US Ambassador after meeting with Jamaat Ameer
US Ambassador to Dhaka Brent Christensen met with Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman. The meeting took place at the Jamaat Ameer’s office in Bhatara area of the capital on Thursday morning (January 29). The ambassador was accompanied by US Embassy Political and Economic Consul Eric Gilman, Public Officer Monica L. Sy, Political Officer James Stewart and Political Expert Firoz Ahmed.
In the meeting, they exchanged views on the current political and economic situation in Bangladesh, industry and trade, the upcoming national parliamentary elections, state reforms and the Rohingya issue, etc. Meanwhile, after the meeting, US Ambassador Brent Christensen sent a message on his X handle. There he wrote, I have learned the views of Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman regarding the upcoming national parliamentary elections in Bangladesh. The United States looks forward to working with all Bangladeshi political parties to achieve peace and prosperity.
