Jiarkandi Union Awami League president Ajmal Sarkar said, “I am the son of a freedom fighter family. I have been associated with Awami League politics for a long time. But I did not get much opportunity to do good work. I contested the UP elections as an independent candidate. But the candidate with the boat symbol snatched my vote.” Instead of being praised by the party, I was devalued. I wanted to resign from the party because of the undervalued leaders and activists of the Awami League government. But I did not get the opportunity due to the environment. I also wanted to resign from the party during the interim government. I did not get the opportunity due to the situation in the country. We have to vote for someone or the other. After much thought, I resigned from the party on Tuesday. He said, after listening to the statement of BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman, we resigned from the Awami League and joined the BNP to strengthen Tarique Rahman’s hand. Upazila BNP President Osman Gani Bhuiyan said, Ajmal Sarkar has joined the BNP with more than a hundred leaders and activists. BNP is a platform of ideals. Anyone with a positive mindset can come here. The doors of BNP will always be open for clean and tidy people.
