Miscreants set fire to the Grameen Bank office in Dohakhla union of Gauripur upazila. The fire broke out after Friday prayers yesterday (January 23). The fire burned office furniture and important documents.
Rahima Khatun, field officer of Grameen Bank Gauripur branch, said that her house is next to the bank branch. Suddenly, she saw the fire burning and went to the spot. At that time, she saw the windows of the bank broken and the fire burning inside. Later, she called the people around and brought the fire under control with sand and water. After a while, a fire service team reached the spot.
Dohakhla branch manager Shah Md. Nazrul Islam said that he was at home at the time of the incident. He came to the bank after receiving a call. I heard that the windows were broken. I cannot say anything more right now. Gauripur police station OC Kamrul Hasan said that police have been sent to the spot. Investigation is underway on the spot. Efforts are being made to find those involved in the incident. He also said that Grameen Bank officials are at the police station. The legal matter is under process.
