Simultaneous voting in 300 seats: Press Secretary
The voting for the 13th National Parliament election will be held simultaneously in 300 seats; elections will be held in Pabna-1 and 2 seats on February 12. This information was given by Shafiqul Alam, Press Secretary to the Chief Advisor to the Interim Government. He said that the ballot papers will be printed from midnight today.
He said this at a briefing at the Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka on Wednesday (January 21) afternoon. The Press Secretary said that a total of 64.8 million male voters and 62.8 million female voters will vote in the upcoming parliamentary elections and referendum. This time there will be 42,779 polling stations and 247,499 booths.
He also said that about 100,000 army, 150,000 police, 8,000 RAB and fire service members will be on duty in the election. There will be about 500 drones. At least 15 law enforcement officers will be at each polling station and 18-19 people at risky centers.
Shafiqul Alam said the chief advisor has directed the Election Commission (EC) to provide any necessary assistance. He has also directed to ensure uninterrupted power supply during the elections. Power supply should be ensured wherever there is power shortage. The press secretary said that since the referendum and the national elections are on the same day, the counting of votes may be delayed this time.
