Rumin Farhana gets duck symbol

Rumin Farhana, an independent candidate expelled from BNP in Brahmanbaria-2 constituency, has been given a duck symbol to contest the 13th National Parliament election. The symbol was allotted from the office of the Deputy Commissioner and Returning Officer on Wednesday (January 21) afternoon.
After receiving the symbol, Rumin Farhana expressed her excitement. She said, “I love my voters, workers and supporters more than their lives. They brought me to this place today. When they see me, small children shout – our duck symbol, our duck symbol. So this symbol is the symbol of my voters, not just mine.”
She also said, “I used to raise ducks. When it was stolen, I did not spare the thief. I filed a case, even sent him to jail. If anyone thinks of stealing my duck symbol, I will take appropriate action.”
Meanwhile, sources in the Returning Officer’s office said that a total of 13 candidates in the six parliamentary constituencies of Brahmanbaria have withdrawn their candidacies. This brings the final number of valid candidates to 48. In the meantime, party candidates have received their respective party symbols and independent candidates have received their preferred symbols.
