This time, a case has been filed against Mufti Amir Hamza in Khulna

A defamation case has been filed against religious speaker and Jamaat-e-Islami nominated candidate Mufti Amir Hamza in Khulna for making objectionable and defamatory statements about the late Arafat Rahman Koko.
This Monday (January 19) morning, the case was filed at the Sonadanga Administrative Court of the Khulna Chief Metropolitan Magistrate by Khulna Metropolitan President and Central Joint General Secretary of Arafat Rahman Koko Memorial Society Md. Zahirul Islam Bappi.
In the statement of the case, Mufti Amir Hamza, a resident of Dabira Vita in Patikabari Union of Kushtia district, has been named as the sole accused. In addition, five people have been called as witnesses in the case.
The statement said that on January 16, while he was at the office of the Arafat Rahman Koko Memorial Society located in C&B Colony under Sonadanga police station in Khulna city, a video of the accused’s speech was leaked on social media Facebook. In that speech, the name of the late Arafat Rahman Koko was publicly mocked and insulted, which was widely circulated on social media.
The plaintiff alleged that through that speech, the late Arafat Rahman Koko, his family, leaders and activists of BNP and its affiliated organizations, as well as the leaders and activists and supporters of the Arafat Rahman Koko Memorial Society have been severely defamed. The complaint further stated that irreparable damage has been caused to the society.
The statement further stated that after examining the matter and discussing it organizationally, the plaintiff was forced to approach the court with some delay in the hope of justice. The complaint claimed that there are eyewitnesses and relevant evidence in favor of the case. A request has been made to issue an arrest warrant against the accused under Section 500 of the Penal Code. Advocate Md. Babul Hawladar filed the case on behalf of the plaintiff. He said, “Sonadanga Administrative Court Judge Asaduzzaman Khan has taken cognizance of the case and ordered the officer-in-charge of Sonadanga Police Station to investigate.” Earlier, on Sunday (January 18), Solaiman Chowdhury Shihab, joint convener of Islamic University (EB) Chhatra Dal, filed a criminal case against Mufti Amir Hamza in the Kushtia court on the same charge.
