Train traffic disrupted: Attack on Rupsha Express, four teenagers arrested
A stone-pelting incident at a moving passenger train in Kaliganj, Jhenaidah has created a stir. The train window was broken due to stone-pelting near Mobarakganj railway station on the Chilahati-Khulna-bound Rupsha Express. Railway authorities and locals have arrested four teenagers in this incident.
Yesterday, Saturday (January 17), after 5 pm, when the train reached Mobarakganj station, stones were randomly pelted from outside. This spread panic among the passengers inside the train. When many passengers started screaming, the matter came to the attention of the train staff. The train was immediately stopped and a raid was conducted and four teenagers named Shakib Hossain, Faisal Ahmed, Nikunja and Tanvir Hasan were arrested. They are all said to be residents of Kaliganj town.
Shahjahan Sheikh, station master of Mobarakganj railway station, said that throwing stones at a moving train is a serious crime. The detained teenagers were taken to Khulna Railway Station by train by GRP (Railway Police) members. The Railway Police said that the process of taking necessary legal action in this incident is underway. Due to the quick action, the passengers were saved from a major accident.
