Nationwide LPG cylinder sale halt announced
LP Gas Traders Cooperative Association Limited has announced to stop the supply and sale of liquefied natural gas (LPG) cylinders across the country. The organization said that it will remain closed from today, Thursday (January 8) until their demands are met. This information was disclosed in a notification issued by the organization yesterday.
The notification said that all LP gas marketing and supply activities in Bangladesh will be closed from today, January 8 until their just demands are met. In addition, gas extraction activities from all the company’s plants will be suspended.
Earlier, the organization held a press conference in front of the National Press Club yesterday to present their demands. At that time, they threatened to stop the sale of LPG cylinders if the demands were not met within 24 hours. After that, the organization announced the sale halt in the evening.
In the morning, the association said in the press conference that the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) will have to adjust the prices of LPG cylinders anew. The administration must stop harassing and fining distributors. If these demands are not met within the next 24 hours, the supply and sale of LPG cylinders across the country will be suspended indefinitely.
