6.7-magnitude earthquake strikes Philippines
A strong earthquake has struck the Philippines. It measured 6.7 on the Richter scale. No tsunami warning was issued after the quake.
The US Geological Survey said an earthquake struck off the coast of the southern Philippines on Wednesday (January 7). There were no immediate reports of tsunami warnings or damage.
The USGS said the quake was initially recorded as a magnitude 6.7 and struck about 27 kilometers east of Santiago city on Mindanao island at a depth of 58.5 kilometers (36 miles).
